“Meerkats are loyal to their family, related or adopted,” says wildlife rehabilitator Pam Wallberg. When they huddle close, like the two adults and two pups above, meerkats often make a contented “churring” sound. Says Wallberg, “A meerkat alone would hardly seem like a meerkat at all.”
