Woof of the Week: Winner, February 25
Finn is comic relief and a great companion to his owners. He is a rescue shelter puppy and has turned out to be the most mellow, loving, and sweet dog most people have ever seen. He is well behaved and makes people smile wherever he goes. Children, in particular, really like him and he them. Finn loves to walk and run with his pack and has rarely missed his 1.5 mile – 3 mile daily walks. Cesar's books and the episodes of the “Dog Whisperer” featuring pit bulls have helped tremendously in making Finn a balanced and well adjusted dog who causes people to instantly change their minds about the undeserved pit bull reputation. Who couldn't love those eyes?

Kitty, 6-Year-Old Mutt
Woof of the Week: Winner, January 14th
Kitty hails from Brooklyn, NY and her owners think she is the sweetest dog in the entire world! When she was surrendered by two men treating her cruelly she was an undernourished, battered, and terrified dog that had Lymes, Heartworm, and several severe intestinal parasites. Since that time she has truly grown into a social butterfly. Once terrified of men and other large dogs, she now goes to work at a 50 person and 4 dog office with her dad a few days each week. She has a gigantic heart and although she can run around the dog park like a maniac, she is mostly a couch potato at home.

-

-
Dagny, 7-Year-Old Border Collie
Dagny is a 7-year-old tricolor border collie that was rescued when she was just a year old from the Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue. She loves to chase balls but if she doesn’t see where they go her nose won’t help her find them. Yet for some reason, she still loves smelling every tree on her walks! She is a known escape artist who can unzip pop-up travel crates and open doors. Dagny does not like thunder and lightning, airplanes, fireworks or car rides. She is reputed for her adorable howl that she greets everyone including strangers with, and it sounds something like: “A-woo-woo-woooooo!”
-
Lilly, 5-Year-Old Maltipoo
Lilly is a friendly, loving puppy who loves to meet new people, especially children. So much so that she is involved in a program that helps children read (a pooch audience is often less intimidating than reading in front of peers, so it boosts kids' confidence). Her favorite game is playing with her wolf puppet. Her favorite treat is salmon, and her favorite pastime is getting belly rubs.
-
Howard, Labrador/Golden Retriever Mix
This was Howard at six weeks old, when he was just a sweet, sleepy, innocent puppy. Howard is still a puppy, but at 8 months old he already weighs a whopping 80 pounds (and still growing) and towers over all the other dogs with his outrageously long legs. Now, he’s anything but innocent. Often compared to the rambunctious pooch featured in Marley & Me, he is still in his destructive, toy-stealing, dinner-snatching puppy phase… but his owners have plans for him to be a therapy dog when he matures.
-
Bailey, 9-Year-Old Bull Dog
Bailey rules her home! She is very active during the seven hours a day she is actually awake. Bailey likes to be with her family at all times and frequently sleeps under her owner’s desk during the work day. Lovingly referred to as the “Monster,” Bailey weighs 55 pounds but considers herself to be a lap dog. She sleeps in her owner’s bed and makes herself a nest of pillows for extra comfort both in bed and on the couch! Bailey is the essential bulldog: loving, playful and stubbornly in charge at all times!
