Wild Turkeys
Photograph by Jack Kerivan, My Shot
Two male wild turkeys were locked in a powerful struggle during the late afternoon in early November. We have 40 wild turkeys that live and feed at our home in suburban Boston. We have watched the flock grow from just a few to this large size over the past few years. Like any community our turkeys don't always get along with each other—from time to time they have their disagreements, but most are solved with some chasing and wing flapping. However, these two locked in battle for hours today.

White-Tailed Ptarmigan
Photograph by Catherine Ashbee, My Shot
In the high alpine of the Rocky Mountains, the white-tailed ptarmigan change their plumage to match the upcoming season. In autumn, I happened upon a group of them between their two distinct colorings. The birds harmoniously change with the foliage and the season, creating a balance of spectacular color.

Sometimes the beauty is in the detail. I believe this is true with this simple but elegant shot of a golden pheasant.
