Grantee: Gianetta “Netty” Purchase

Gianetta “Netty” Purchase is a large-predator biologist and coordinator of the Shashe-Limpopo Predator Research Group.

Purchase’s Big Cats Initiative grant is focused on national and regional policies pertaining to large carnivores. The project hopes to update and revise the legislative environment to establish stronger and more consistent policies for large-carnivore conservation. Project initiatives included a comprehensive review of existing legislation and policy and establishing the extent of compliance with those regulations; and establishing among large-carnivore stakeholders a consensus of potential improvements to legislation, generating a document outlining those recommendations, and distributing that document to national government bodies.
